When I upgraded to the 2025 VW Tiguan R-Line, I was genuinely impressed by the new design – especially the upgraded sports seats. They look incredible, with that silver “R” detail integrated into the backrest. But as with many modern car upgrades, I quickly ran into a problem: the seats no longer have traditional headrest poles.
For most drivers, that’s a non-issue. But for anyone with kids, passengers, or long drives, you might already own a phone or tablet holder that mounts between those poles. Without them, there’s suddenly nowhere to clip on your rear-seat entertainment setup.
Most Aftermarket Solutions Weren’t Good Enough
I started hunting for a solution and quickly found a few universal adapters online. The problem? They were either:
- Bulky and ugly
- Required screws or alterations
- Or they completely covered the silver “R” design on the back of the seat
As much as I needed functionality, I didn’t want to ruin the premium look that drew me to the R-Line in the first place.
So I took a different approach.
I Designed and 3D Printed My Own Bracket
After a bit of tinkering (and several prototypes), I came up with a bracket that fits perfectly inside the rear cutout of the Tiguan R-Line sports seat. It tucks neatly into the plastic casing without damaging the trim or needing any tools. Most importantly – it leaves the R logo visible and doesn’t make the seat look cluttered or cheap.
The bracket provides a solid mounting point in roughly the same position as traditional headrest poles. This means you can re-use the phone or tablet holder you already own (or grab a compatible one online). No more shopping around for seat-specific accessories – just plug and play.
