Home Assistant – My recommended software to bring all your home automation products together under one roof. It is not for the feint hearted though.

Apple Home Kit – If you have an apple device, home kit is already set up for you. Simply buy a home kit enabled product and it should be automatically detected by your hardware. You can then set up automations within the home kit app. Be aware you do need the device at home to run automations. A lot of people buy a mac mini or use an old iPad as the “brain” which can then be left on and in the house at all times.

Amazon Alexa – I have this set up along side home assistant. Whilst I don’t use the home automation features, I do use it as an output for messages. Lots of the home automation devices are compatible with Alexa, just look for the icon / text when buying.
